Bourton Group is a fantastic management consultancy. Unfortunately no one really knows what 'management consultancy' means. So we set about translating their fantastic offering into words that everyone understood and could benefit from.
When we first met, Bourton Group was a management consultancy that was facing the realities of doing business in the 21st century. Despite their own business model, getting under the skin of businesses to find ways of improving them, they were finding it difficult to address their own limitations. They knew they had structural issues (male, pale and stale was their own concern), but they had one thing going for them: self-awareness. Unlike other consultancies they knew that not only did they have to make changes, if they were to succeed they were going to have to make those changes cultural.
Which was around the point they approached us. Recommended from one of our many happy clients, Bourton Group came to Trust for help in articulating their brand message. They wanted to find a way of resonating more strongly with a target audience whose needs, wants and priorities had shifted over the years. A newer, younger, more diverse generation of managers and decision makers was coming up through the ranks, and Bourton Group knew they had to engage them effectively.
We started with our deep dive. Over the course of an extensive research process, we held interviews with Bourton Group’s customers, their team, current clients, potential clients and former clients, as well as conducting qualitative phone calls and quantitative emails to really get under the skin of the business.
All of our findings were collated into a research document that made recommendations about everything from a new strapline to updated mission, vision and values, a refreshed logo, a new brand look and feel and a reskinned website. We were also asked to boil this brand overhaul down into an video to launch the new brand internally, and the result was an animation that proved such a hit they now use it to open their new business meetings.
Ultimately, our work for Bourton Group was so successful that they took us on as a retained agency. Stuart Bradley, our MD observed, “Our work with Bourton Group is the perfect example of our process and business model. Referred to us by a happy client, we were able to research and understand Bourton Group, before creating a new brand identity, and then ultimately being kept involved in their day-to-day communications strategy as a retained partner.”
““Trust held up a mirror to us, highlighting unappreciated strengths and uncomfortable truths. Their research was crucial to helping us grow as a brand, and their design and creative expertise has made our business stronger than ever.””Mike Notman
